Operational and Management Collaboration of Top Porsche Cayman, Boxster and GT3 Series Commences Immediately
JACKSONVILLE, Florida (March 7, 2014) – The owners and operators of The Stuttgart Cup™ – the fast-growing racing series for Porsche Caymans and Boxsters – announced today a new partnership that will see the organization expand to also operate and manage the popular Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo.
The two Porsche-based series first combined their racing operations at last month’s HSR Palm Beach Grand Prix at Palm Beach International Raceway but today’s announcement officially confirms the management expansion.
While the Stuttgart Cup has grown in popularity in just its second season of competition, the Mission Foods GT3 Trophy Cup has been a fixture on classic and historic race weekends for the last several seasons. The series is home to Porsche’s popular 911-based GT3 and RS/RSR cars, from the 2000 model year on up to more recent editions of the venerable “Cup” car.
Like the Stuttgart Cup, Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy racing has a place for a wide variety of competitors, from amateur drivers to professional racing teams, and the series accommodates all GT3 Cup owners. Both The Stuttgart Cup™ and Mission Foods GT3 Cup currently race primarily on HSR (Historic Sportscar Racing) weekends but the partnership, and the increased competitor entries that it will bring, will likely see both series expand to new venues and sanctioning bodies in the coming months.
Mission Foods GT3 Cup will continue to have its own season-long championship and sprint and enduro races on every race weekend, identical to The Stuttgart Cup™ series. All types of GT3 Cup cars are welcome in the Mission Foods series, including RS and RSRs, GT3Rs, Rolex “GRAND-AM” cars, 996s and 997 GT3 Cup cars with both 3.6 and 3.8 liter engines.
In related news, Ken Fengler, recently hired as Stuttgart Cup Competition Director, has been promoted to the additional role of General Manager for both the Cayman and Boxster series and the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo. Fengler, who will also serve as Competition Director for Mission Foods GT3, will manage all on and off-track operations of both series. He will also lead the short-term and long-term growth strategies of both series to additional venues and sanctioning bodies.

Noteworthy: While official championship racing for both The Stuttgart Cup™ and the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo will not continue until late next month at Road Atlanta, both series will have a strong presence at events around this weekend’s Amelia Island 2014 Concours d’Elegance in Florida. Tonight, four Stuttgart Cup Caymans will be on display at the Dupont Registry Live Aeroport Reception from 7 – 10 p.m. at the Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport. The featured Cayman S race cars include a black Racelink No. 05 that carries the livery of the new Porsche 918 Spyder race car and a prototype white No. 225 that swept all three class races at last month’s Palm Beach Grand Prix. The pair of additional Stuttgart Cup cars in the spotlight should be crowd-pleasing “throwback” Caymans, including the No. 14 Lowenbrau-themed car that pays tribute to what many consider Al Holbert’s most famous Porsche 962. The other is a green No. 80 with the distinctive white stripes of Richard Piper Racing’s standout Porsche 917Ks from the early 1970s. On Saturday, a Mission GT3 Cup Porsche and the No. 225 and No. 05 Caymans will be showcased at the Festivals of Speed, Amelia Island, at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort.
About: Both The Stuttgart Cup™ and the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo are managed by Americas Cup GT L.L.C. Both championships are sprint and endurance series with The Stuttgart Cup™ open to all Porsche Caymans and Boxsters and Mission Foods GT3 open to all 2000 and later Porsche 911 GT3s and related models. Rules for both series are centered on power to weight ratio. All competing Stuttgart Cup cars must compete with stock make and model engine and transmissions with approved allowances for exhaust and intake modifications. Stuttgart Cup organizers also welcome all competitors with existing race-prepared Caymans or Boxsters to compete with body and engine modifications balanced within series power to weight ratio parameters. All such competitors will not be eligible for championship points or class-designated race wins, but the door is always open to all Cayman and Boxster competitors to get in on the action.
