Full Weekend of Competition Also Includes Mark Sandridge-Hosted Saturday Barbecue; Shane Lewis to Attend as Series Coach

LEXINGTON, Ohio (June 18, 2015) – A solid of entry of competitors in both The Stuttgart Cup™ and Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo is headed to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course next weekend, June 25 – 28, for the Mid-Ohio Vintage Grand Prix.

stuttgart cupOn-track activity begins exactly one week from today with a Thursday test that featuring four individual sessions. The Mid-Ohio race weekend schedule features points-paying Friday and Saturday sprint races and a featured enduro on Sunday. Practice, qualifying and a Sunday warm-up session are also on a full schedule with ample track time.

Among the competitors heading to Mid-Ohio is local driver, Mark Sandridge, who is from Medina, Ohio, less than an hour north of the track. Sandridge will be among the Mission Foods GT3 Cup favorites in his No. 25 Porsche 991 GT3 Cup that carries the livery of the Le Mans-winning No. 25 Porsche 911 GT1. Longtime coach and co-driver, Joe Varde, is expected to join Sandridge for Sunday’s enduro.

Sandridge is also hosting a Saturday cook-out at-track luncheon, an event that has become a tradition in its own right at Mid-Ohio. Open to all competitors in the Stuttgart Cup/Mission Foods GT3 paddock, the menu feature’s items directly from the Sandridge family’s Ohio-based business, Sandridge Food Corporation.

Top competition for Sandridge and the rest of the Mission Foods GT3 Cup field will come from the Porsche GT3 cars of Adam Yunis and Jack Gilsdorf. Yunis will be debuting a new Porsche 991 GT3 Cup car while Gilsdorf races a Porsche 993 Super Cup machine.

Competitors in both Mission Foods GT3 and The Stuttgart Cup™ will have the services of pro driver Shane Lewis available at Mid-Ohio. Lewis co-drove a Cayman S to victory in the 2013 Rolex 24 At Daytona.

stuttgart cupOn The Stuttgart Cup™ Cayman front, Classic Auto Restoration Services (CARS) is bringing three Stuttgart Cup Caymans to Mid-Ohio. The Omaha, Nebraska-based shop prepares the crowd-favorite No. 23 “Pink Pig” Cayman S that will be driven at Mid-Ohio by Randy Cassling and his coach and co-driver, Christian Coggins.

Mike Cassling, Randy’s brother, last raced at The Mitty in April where he scored his first series podium finish. He returns at Mid-Ohio in his orange No. 2 Cayman S out of the CARS stable, which is themed after the popular Jägermeister Porsches.

Additional CARS competitors Mid-Ohio bound include Stuttgart Cup race winner, Henry Davis, who drives the No. 21 Cayman S. He won his first series event in a sprint race at the 2014 Sebring finale. Grant Maiman will coach and co-drive with Davis at Mid-Ohio.

Racelink driver and two-time and reigning Stuttgart Cup champion, Bill Riddell, will be looking to make a move in the 2015 championship points race at Mid-Ohio. Riddell races his black and white striped No. 05 Cayman S themed after a Porsche 918 Spyder prototype.

Another Cayman race winner at Sebring, Tom Bloom, is returning to the series next weekend at Mid-Ohio. Bloom has earned additional race wins in Cayman competition the last few years but Mid-Ohio will mark his first Stuttgart Cup start of the season.

2015 race winners and title-contenders Rick Stavola and Vern Chevalier will look to continue their victorious ways at Mid-Ohio. They will compete in their Bodymotion Caymans along with teammate Tom Kievit.

stuttgart cupStavola, who won the season-opening enduro at the Palm Beach Grand Prix, drives the 3.4-liter No. 22 Bodymotion Cayman S. Chevalier competes in a 3.8-liter No. 24 Cayman S with the support of EFS Combust. Kievit drives the No. 27 3.4-liter Cayman S.

Round 6 of the 2015 Stuttgart Cup/Mission Foods GT3 Cup 10 event race schedule, the Mid-Ohio weekend is also the last chance for new competitors to get in on this year’s championship battles.

Mid-Ohio is the first of 2015’s final five races, which means even competitors making their first start of the season on the Buckeye road course can contend for their class championship if they compete in each of the year’s remaining events. The Stuttgart Cup™ and Mission Foods GT3 also have a unique team championship this year, which rewards competitors not for distance raced on the track but for total miles recorded traveling to each venue. The team championship points structure also rewards multiple car teams, offering an extra incentive to competitors around the country to literally “go the extra mile” to race in The Stuttgart Cup™ and Mission Foods GT3 Cup.

Both series are sprint and endurance race based with The Stuttgart Cup™ open to all Porsche Caymans and Boxsters and Mission Foods GT3 open to all 2000 and later Porsche 911 GT3s and related models. Rules for both series are centered on power to weight ratio. All competing Stuttgart Cup cars must compete with stock make and model engine and transmissions with approved allowances for exhaust and intake modifications. Stuttgart Cup organizers also welcome all competitors with existing race-prepared Caymans or Boxsters to compete with body and engine modifications balanced within series power to weight ratio parameters. All such competitors will not be eligible for championship points or class-designated race wins, but the door is always open to all Cayman and Boxster competitors to get in on the action.
