Team Profile

speedsport-tuning

Since 1995, Speedsport Tuning has been providing clients throughout the Northeast with honest, dependable and expert Porsche service.

Speedsport Tuning and SST Auto began life as a small Porsche performance shop owned by Larry Prentiss.  Well-known racer and Porsche technician Spencer Cox would join the shop and eventually purchase it from Larry.   With Spencer’s guidance the shop continued to grow and expand, ultimately moving to an impressive 32,000 sq ft facility in Danbury, CT.   Speedsport attracted top professionals like Bryan Lagas who would take over ownership of Speedsport Tuning and SST Auto in 2019.

While it began as a Porsche-centric shop, as the business has continued to grow, SST Auto and Speedsport Turning have added expert, factory-trained Audi, BMW, VW, Mercedes and Mini technicians to provide the same level of service the Porsche customers have been accustomed to.

Speedsport Tuning, the company’s racing division, has joined International GT in 2020 beginning at Sebring with JASON MCCARTHY#11 and JOHN UGLUM #711 and then again with JENS HANTSON #125 at Mid Ohio.

Coach’s Corner

Often found in the Speedsport Tuning paddock coaching their drivers, GRANT MAIMAN, who has also been spotted in other IGT team paddocks, has an impressive racing pedigree in the US and Europe which he has turned into an expert driver coaching business.

As a coach Grant’s philosophy reads, “A lap time is the result of technique, car potential and track conditions. The goal is to have conditions and car potential be the only limiting factors. We specialize in helping our clients understand the relationship between the track, car and driver, and how one influences the other. With a proper handling car and training, drivers can drive the car to its limitations, instead of their own.”
