Friday’s Twilight Sprint Follows 2014 Awards Ceremony Thursday at Palm Beach International Raceway

PALM BEACH, Florida (February 13, 2015) – Mark Greenberg and Dominique LeQueux were the first drivers to strike this season in The Stuttgart Cup™ and Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo as each raced to flag-to-flag victories in Friday’s Twilight Sprint at Palm Beach International Raceway, the first of three races at this weekend’s Palm Beach Grand Prix.

stuttgart cupGreenberg took overall honors and the Mission Foods GT3 Cup victory in the multi-class race in his No. 77 NETTTS/Orbit Racing Porsche 911 GT3 while LeQueux topped the Stuttgart Cup division in his MOMO-themed No. 30 Cayman S prepared by Goldcrest Motorsports.

“I am down here part time and, as far as I can see, there is nothing wrong with being in Florida,” said Greenberg, a Boston native who recently took a second residence in Miami Beach. “Best weather in the country, great track, great people – met fantastic people – Ken Fengler and the group, the track and the club all really do a nice job here. And Orbit Racing really takes care of a race car, they are a really professional group. I will be here at the track a lot more, this is the backyard now.”

Greenberg and LeQueux won their respective class poles earlier on Friday in qualifying and both drivers never lost their leads, from the race start to the checkered flag, in the caution-free 30-minute sprint.

“It’s not easy, it never is, every race you feel pressure, but the car was really good,” said LeQueux, who earned his first Stuttgart Cup win. “It was my first race at Palm Beach, we will see what happens tomorrow, but I love this track and we are not bad at all here, we have a good car and Goldcrest was very good.

The season-opening race was run as the sun was setting on the second perfect day in a row at Palm Beach International Raceway, and set the stage for the weekend’s final two races on Saturday. Tomorrow’s schedule includes a second 30-minute sprint at 10:50 a.m. EST and the weekend’s featured 90-minute Enduro at 3 p.m. EST.

stuttgart cupFriday’s on-track schedule followed a Thursday evening Welcome Party and 2014 Awards Reception that honored last year’s champions and top performers.

Orbit Racing’s Lonnie Pechnik accepted the 2014 Mission Foods GT3 Cup Champions Award for Steve White, who is not racing this weekend as he transitions into a new Porsche GT3 race car.

Bill Riddell was honored for winning his second-consecutive Stuttgart Cup Championship. He was presented with a hand-painted glass bowl trophy imported from Europe, similar to the one awarded to White.

White also won a vacation stay at the Pacifico luxury residences in Playas del Coco, Costa Rica, and he and Riddell were awarded complimentary Palm Beach Driving Club Memberships. The Champions also received full sets of Pirelli P Zero racing tires as did respective GT3 and Stuttgart Cup championship runner-ups, Juan Lopez-Santini and Rodrigo Sales, and third-place Stuttgart Cup points finisher Joe Sullivan.

Greenberg shared the Mission Foods GT3 Cup podium Friday with second-place finisher Adam Yunis and Matt Joffe, who earned the race’s Pirelli P Zero tire award for finishing third in his overall auto racing debut.

LeQueux shared the Stuttgart Cup podium with runner-up Rick Stavola and Sullivan, who finished third.

The PBIR opener will be followed by 2015 stops to such iconic circuits as Sebring International Raceway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Road America, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Road Atlanta and Daytona International Speedway, among other premier race tracks.

Showcasing Porsche Caymans and Boxsters, The Stuttgart Cup™ is beginning its fourth year of racing and third full-season of competition this year. Partnering with Mission Foods GT3, which has been a fixture on classic and historic race weekends for the last several seasons, was an ideal collaboration that attracted strong competitor interest and the support of Pirelli Tire in 2014.

Both The Stuttgart Cup™ and the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo are managed by Americas Cup GT L.L.C. Both championships are sprint and endurance race based with The Stuttgart Cup™ open to all Porsche Caymans and Boxsters and Mission Foods GT3 open to all 2000 and later Porsche 911 GT3s and related models. Stuttgart Cup organizers also welcome all competitors with existing race-prepared Caymans or Boxsters to compete with body and engine modifications balanced within series power to weight ratio parameters. All such competitors will not be eligible for championship points or class-designated race wins, but the door is always open to all Cayman and Boxster competitors to get in on the action.
